Correlations in Integrable Quantum Many-Body Systems

The goal of our research group is the development of many-body standard reference systems with known static and dynamical correlation functions at arbitrary temperature, on the lattice and in the continuum, very much like Bosonization provides standard reference systems near T = 0, namely conformal field theories with central charges c = 1 and known static low-temperature properties. We are contributing to the following three projects:

Dynamical correlation functions of integrable quantum systems (M. Karbach, J. Sirker)
Transport properties of integrable quantum systems (A. Klümper, J. Sirker)
Non-Abelian Anyons (H. Frahm, J. Sirker)

The Discovery Grants Program supports ongoing programs of research (with long-term goals) rather than a single short-term project or collection of projects. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances, whether made individually or in teams. Researchers are free to work in the mode most appropriate for the research area.

“Condensed Matter Systems with Variable Many-Body Interactions”

Within the framework of the SFB/TRR49 the collective behaviour of interacting many-body systems will be investigated on a broad phenomenological context. The topics to work on embrace cooperative phenomena such as the Mott metal-insulator transition, superconducting/superfluid phases with strong interactions or Bose-Einstein condensation under various and sometimes extreme conditions. Besides the properties of the ground state, excitations and exchange processes, also containing dynamical aspects of correlations and coherence, will be investigated. Our group is studying the Thermodynamics and dynamics of one-dimensional quantum systems in the research project A11.
